Mons European Capital of Culture 2015

For the “Ailleurs en Folie Milan” event, dedicated to a selection of Milanese artists and designers (curated by Francesca Sarti from Arabeschi di Latte) the duo Carnovsky was invited to create a site specific installation of wallpaper and coloured lights entitled RGB Trattoria.

In the large formerly industrial building which is part of the Maison Folie complex, Carnovsky’s installation spreads over 3 levels. On the central background wall a gigantic human figure (Vesalio n. 2) erects more than 9 meters high dominating the space and revealing from time to time, with the coloured lights, its muscles, skeleton and venous system. The second level is that of the windows in which Carnovsky presented a first preview of Landscape n.2 a new piece on the theme of travel, ever changing landscapes and the discovery of new worlds. Finally the bar is transformed in a sort of mutating large aquarium of curiosities where fishes and different sea creatures, real and not, swim together.

During the ten days of the event, the space hosted a temporary restaurant, the Bistrot Folie, which for the occasion presented a Milanese menu, whose tables were also set with placemats decorated with Carnovsky’s Animalia n.2.
